General information about CPNRE Exam
The CPNRE is a national examination for individuals who wish to become licensed practical nurses (LPNs) in Canada Except Ontario & British columbia. It tests the competencies required to provide safe, ethical, and effective nursing care to individuals in various settings.
The CPNRE (Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Examination) is administered by Yardstick Assessment Strategies.Yardstick is a professional testing and assessment company that works with various regulatory bodies, including the Canadian Council for Practical Nurse Regulators (CCPNR), to create, administer, and manage exams like the CPNRE.
The exam fee generally ranges from $400 to $500 CAD, depending on the region. The exact fee is determined by the regulatory body in the province or territory where you apply.
The format and the structure of the exam
The CPNRE consists of 165- 170 multiple-choice questions that assess your knowledge and ability to provide safe and effective nursing care. The exam is computer-based, and you will be given a set amount of time (typically 4 hours) to complete it.
